The commitment of the Prison Ministry is to provide an outreach for ex-offenders, and, in particular, those with children. Our goal is to assist them in their transition back into society and help them in their realizing their God-given potential. Our ministry focuses on God's word, which says that we are mandated to be aware of social consciousness and concern for others. We provide assistance through various aspects of ministry, i.e., visitation, communication, provisions, Bible study, evangelism and fellowship. In addition, we also work on behalf of family members, friends and children who are affected by incarceration.

ChristUnite.com, a website connecting people to ministries that help to strengthen a relationship with Christ, is shutting down in February 2011. The site’s owner has allowed others to distribute its very helpful information, including the DC area’s regional page. CU's information is not comprehensive, but it is substantial. The DC regional page is posted, with minor changes, on TCDC in this series.

  2. The first comprehensive Christian "survival guide" for men living behind bars is now available from Thomas Nelson/WestBow Press, called DAILY LIGHT ON THE PRISONER'S PATH.

DLPP incorporates all of the original morning and evening Scripture readings (KJV) from the original Daily Light, along with brief straightforward teachings on Christian spiritual formation suited to prisoners: anger, true repentance, spiritual warfare, forgiveness, prayer, doing time purposefully, and much more.

Both Prison Fellowship and The Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview have recently selected DLPP for inclusion on their exclusive reading lists for prisoners.

Visit www.DLPP.info to browse the book and learn more about me - the author - a DC Christian who spent nine months in federal prison and is now committed to restorative justice for all those living in confinement.

DC Area Church Classifieds

For many, the DC area is a transitory place. Whether people in your congregational family are moving down the block or across the world, changing jobs or doing home improvements, helping people through transitions is a frequent ministry in most of our communities. In addition to many personal helping hands, some have email listserves, and a handful of local congregations have public online classifieds to facilitate the process. Please leave a comment if there are any others not included.
