Each summer, the youth groups from several different churches in the DC area get together for a week of service to their city, learning about each other, and wrestling with the biblical imperatives for justice and mercy?
That week week is called Urban Hands, and it goes from Sunday, July 11 to Saturday, July 17. And the youth can use some help from the rest of the church body, especially in the areas of food prep and driving.
To sign up to volunteer, use this form. Activities are hosted at Washington Community Fellowship church, 901 Maryland Ave. NE (metro: Union Station).
Particular needs include:
- Monday 7/12 and Saturday 7/17: Breakfast set-up & lunch prep, 7-8:15 am.
- Every day 3-5pm: Driving youth to the pool where they shower. Help them to be the aroma of Christ (2 Corinthians 2.15), but not of anything else.
- Monday 7/12 and Thursday 7/15: Dinner prep, 6:30-8pm.
And there are other ways to help as well. While we're at it, let's also imitate from the unity across congregational lines and the commitment to justice, mercy, and the study of God's Word that our young neighbors are learning next week.
