Benefit Concert for Sierra Leone

Join us at a benefit concert on April 30th to support Faiths Act's interfaith public health project in Sierra Leone. In addition to helping treat and prevent malaria, it will also be a great show - Justin Fung, one of the pastors at The District Church, will be performing at the concert, along with several other talented musicians! Details for the concert are below, and can also be found on the Facebook event page:

Faiths Act, ONE, Malaria No More, and the 9/11 Unity Walk invite you to join us for a benefit concert on Monday, April 30th from 6-7:30 pm at Busboys and Poets (5th and K) to support Faiths Act's interfaith public health project in Sierra Leone! Tickets are $12 beforehand and $15 at the door, with all proceeds donated to the cause! Purchase yours at: http://voicesforsl.eventbrite.com/.

In Sierra Leone, 1/3 of child deaths under the age of five are due to malaria - a preventable, treatable disease. With only 126 medical practitioners to serve a population of nearly six million, Faiths Act in Sierra Leone works by bringing together Muslim imams and Christian pastors to train people (Malaria Faith Champions) in their local communities! Working with the Ministry of Health, Interreligious Council, and Christian Health Association of Sierra Leone, they plan to reach over 100,000 homes by June 2012 - that translates to thousands of lives saved from malaria through multi-faith action!

We've got an amazing line up of performers, dedicating their voices and time to shine a light on the issue of malaria and demonstrating how faith can be a force for good in the world!

Performers include:

Anna Mwalagho, slam poetry & afro-beat:

Ebony Khan, singer: http://on.fb.me/IgxI9N
Justin Fung, singer: http://www.youtube.com/user/jusfung
Mojy Mojahid: http://harfa.tumblr.com/
Songrise: http://www.songrisedc.blogspot.com/
& more!

Additionally we will be exhibiting photos taken in countries that have continued to fight malaria. If you would like to submit photographs you've taken, please send a digital copy to Andrea Choi at andrea.choi@malarianomore.org no later than April 20, 2012.

All entries must have a resolution of 1 million pixels or greater (1 megapixels) to ensure proper display. Participants of the exhibition will receive a certificate; three will be given a small prize!

Please help us spread the word & invite friends to what is sure to be an incredible evening to save lives!

Hope to see you there,
Blythe Scott
