God, Genes, and Human Identity - Dr. Jimmy Lin, Feb. 21

From The Trinity Forum and Church of the Advent.
Thursday, February 21, at the National Press Club, 529 14th St. NW.

Please join us on Thursday, February 21 at the National Press Club in Washington, DC for what promises to be a fascinating conversation on the links between genetics and human identity, and how to understand our bodies and our selves in the light of both genetic information and biblical truth.
This is the final Evening Conversation in our three-part series entitled "Science & Faith in Conversation: Our Place, Self, and Soul" sponsored in part by the Templeton Foundation "Scientists in Congregations" Initiative, and co-hosted by The Church of the Advent and The Trinity Forum.
Jimmy Lin, MD, PhD, MHS, is a 2012 TED Fellow and Founder/CEO of Rare Genomics Institute (RGI), the world's first platform to enable any community to leverage cutting-edge biotechnology to advance understanding of any rare disease. Partnering with 18 of the top medical institutions, such as Harvard, Yale, and Johns Hopkins University, RGI helps custom design personalized research projects for diseases so rare that no organization exists to help.
Dr. Lin is also a medical school faculty member at the Washington University in St. Louis and led the computational analysis of the first ever exome sequenching studies for human disease at Johns Hopkins. He has numerous publications in Science, Nature, Cell, Nature Genetics, and Nature Biotechnology, and has been featured in Forbes, Bloomberg, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and the Huffington Post.
We hope you will join us for wine, hors d'oeuvres, and conversation at the National Press Club.

DC Area Church Classifieds

For many, the DC area is a transitory place. Whether people in your congregational family are moving down the block or across the world, changing jobs or doing home improvements, helping people through transitions is a frequent ministry in most of our communities. In addition to many personal helping hands, some have email listserves, and a handful of local congregations have public online classifieds to facilitate the process. Please leave a comment if there are any others not included.
