ChristUnite.com, a website connecting people to ministries that help to strengthen a relationship with Christ, is shutting down in February 2011. The site’s owner has allowed others to distribute the very helpful information on the site, including the DC area’s regional page. CU's information is not comprehensive, but it is substantial. The DC regional page is posted, with minor additions and subtractions, on TCDC in this series.

  1. I'd like to update the location for St. Brendan's in the City. We are no longer at 1350 R. We are at 907 Maryland Ave, NE in the Washington Community Fellowship church building at 5 p.m. Sundays. Please update.

  2. Are there any churches with evening services in the Roslyn, Courthouse Balston area (orange line)? Thank you.

    1. I actually know of very few.
      - 3 Strands Community Church is near Foggy Bottom metro in the District, at 5pm on Sunday
      - On Monday, Maclean Bible Church Arlington has evening services at the Spectrum Theatre at 7:30pm (http://mbcarlington.com/location)

Here is another page, last updated 2009, with a few area evening services. http://djchuang.com/2006/evening-worship-around-washington-dc/. Bridgeway 242, which would fit your criteria, appears not to exist anymore.

Will post if I find others.

  3. God Morning and praises to all, i'm currently in search of a church home with evening hours, I work on Sundays and when I get off service is over. It doesn't have to be on Sunday. Thank you.

    1. I only know of one evening service near the neighborhood - St. Columba's Episcopal "Live@5" - a lively alternative Eucharist with contemporary music and multimedia storytelling. St. Columba's also has several morning services. http://www.columba.org/index.php/2011/worship/sunday_worship_services; 4201 Albemarle St. NW.

If you're asking about churches in general, a favorite (full disclosure: I attend and work there--email thechurchindc@gmail.com if you want to connect!) is National Presbyterian Church, 4101 Nebraska Ave. NW - www.nationalpres.org. It's a great, multi-generational congregation with strong teaching, a lot of wise Christian folk, and good service programs. Services are Sunday morning from 8:30 at the earliest to 11:00 at the latest.

I don't know a lot about The City Church, a charismatic non-denominational evangelical church at 4100 River Rd., (but they do have a big community festival this Sunday at 1:30pm.

Wesley DC, 5312 Connecticut is part of a Methodist network in this part of the city and is famous for hosting jazz concerts (http://wesleydc.org/?page_id=52) as well as for worship.

I know most of those are technically Tenleytown rather than Cleveland Park, but I hope it gives you a good start. There's also an abbreviated list here: http://www.cpcadc.org/community-links/places-of-worship/. We'd certainly love to have you at National Presbyterian if you are free Sunday mornings.

      Blessings,
      John
